To make the move as effortless and with the least steps, gather and pack these in small to medium size boxes. Wrap photos in frames, in bubble wrap. Artwork can be stored in an attic or a storage room, keeping them safe until the moving company you choose, packs them professionally. If you are doing the move yourself, you will most certainly need mirror and artwork boxes to pack these items.

CONTEMPORARY OR VICTORIAN?
Your next step is to decide the style that most, best suits your home from all those pieces of furniture that you have. It’s okay to mix styles, yet when selling, it is best to keep to one genre. Less is definitely more. You could take this time to get an off-site storage space to keep your belongings in. Unless you know the type of architecture your new home is, and can downsize while staging your current home, you may want to keep pieces to see what suits your new home.

As for the kitchen, yep, put those appliances away or in storage, out of site. Countertops that are clean and clear in space, help the sale by allowing the buyer to picture themselves enjoying that space. Everyone has their own style of cooking. As for your food, it is wise to check the dates on items so you can make the cabinets look more inspiring to potential buyers, eliminating waste and making more room, for the visual.

Clothing is another department that can be downsized in a move. Unlike furniture that may or may not look good in your next house, it does not affect your new purchase. It is a good time when staging, to go through those wearables and decide if you want to keep them or not. You can follow the same process of keep, discard or give. If you are so inclined, there a quite a lot of consignment paths to go on if you want to sell.

TOO MUCH EYELINER?
When it comes to the primary bath and subsequent bathrooms, toiletries are best gone through to discard those items you’ve been storing way past their useful lives. Make-up specifically has a use by date which is approximately 6 months from date of purchase.

Buyers often open drawers and cabinets and when organized beautifully, the buyer may think more than once and remember your house when deciding on their new home.
